Friday, October 11, 2019

Maserati has announced plans for plant renewal, electrification and autonomous driving technologies with an investment of 5 billion euros in Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) in Italy. In addition to driving dynamics specific to the Maserati DNA, the vehicles will be combined with fast charging capabilities, next-generation electric batteries and powertrain technology, and will be built in facilities in Modena, Cassino and Turin.

Maserati plans to invest EUR 5 billion within the scope of innovations in electric vehicles, autonomous driving technologies and production lines. The new models in the plan are designed as unique sports cars that combine technology and Maserati's traditional values in the same pot. The new production line, which will be commissioned at the brand's factory in Modena with an investment of 800 million euros, is planned to be opened in the first quarter of 2020. The production of the electric Maserati series is expected to begin in 2021 as part of the plan.

Innovative and Electric Maserati models

Within the scope of Maserati's preparations for the future, Maserati Ghibli will be the brand's first electric hybrid power and powertrain car in 2020. The electric Ghibli, which will become a unique sports car that melts Maserati's traditional values in the same pot as electric vehicle technology, will be produced at the Modena factory, whose production line has been renovated to provide electric power and driveline. GranTurismo and GranCabrio models, which are known for their long-established and successful history, will also drop off the production line at the plant in Turin, where Fiat Chrysler Auotomobiles has invested 800 million Euros. Maserati Utility Vehicle, the brand's new electric car, will be produced in Cassino and will play an important role in the electric vehicle market. All the new electric models Maserati will produce; Levante will complete the constantly evolving line of current prestigious models in the Maserati product line, including Quattroporte and Ghibli.

The heart of change: Autonomous driving technologies

Maserati continues to work to update the models in its current product range with autonomous driving features along with the electric vehicles it will produce. The autonomous process starting with Level 2 in Maserati, which has an advanced highway assistant, extends to Level 3, which provides the lane entry and exit of the vehicle and safely stops the roadside when the driver loses control.
